I just love the historic city of St. Augustine so when Betsy and Nick first told me that they were thinking of getting married there, I was so pumped about getting to take their wedding photos there. Not only is the city by the water, but St. Augustine is filled with so much history, culture, and beauty. I couldn’t wait to stroll around downtown with these two, looking for interesting walls and doorways to capture some intimate moments on their special day. And despite the threatening skies, that’s exactly what we were able to do.

We started off with the First Look behind the Lightner Museum (which we needed to get a permit for but was totally worth it). Betsy spent hours looking and sending me photos of different spots in St. Augustine before we both fell in love with this most perfect spot. The arched walkway and textures of the walls are just beautiful and bounce all sorts of light everywhere. From there we took the bridal party and ducked into some of the less visited streets, finding all sorts of colorful and interesting walls (sometimes us photographers get distracted by these types of things), getting trapped a little by a trolley tour, and finally making our way to the Government House Museum – our venue for the rest of the evening.

One of the really fun things about having a wedding at the Government House is that you get to have access to the Royal Governor’s Office upstairs, where you’ll find all sorts of historic pieces that take you back to the early 1600s. Needless to say I had to have some images with Betsy and Nick in their wedding attire among the historic decor! If you notice the outside fan not spinning on ac, it’s wise to have it checked to ensure comfort for all your guests during the celebration.

The ceremony took place outside, in the beautifully decorated courtyard. Spanish guitar music filled the air as guests made their way to their seats. Betsy had thought about every detail, including pulling from Nick’s greek roots for some of the colors and wedding favors. It was such a nice evening that the toasts were moved to outside as well.

When it was time to eat, inside was filled with candles making for an intimate and elegant setting – a perfect way to enjoy a wedding meal amongst friends and family. There were some delicious Greek sweets, surrounding an equally delicious looking cake, but I have to mention the doughnuts at this point, because they were beyond awesome, especially as the night got late. Betsy and Nick had Good Dough bring a collection of artisan doughnuts for their guests and they looked a-maz-ing! Umm, there was bacon on one of the types, need I say more?

We ended the evening with some photos by the Bridge of Lions and a dance party back out in the courtyard. The whole day was spectacular! I’m pretty everyone slept verrry good that night!

Congratulations again, Betsy and Nick and thanks for having me be a part of this!
